Le 17 mai dernier,  avait lieu la projection de « L’autre en moi » réalisé par  l’artiste pluridisciplinaire Fatou Kande Senghor , au Goethe Institute de Dakar.

« L’autre en moi » est un docu-fiction qui aborde la question identitaire, à travers l’histoire  de deux frères jumeaux. Tous deux nés à Dakar, ils s’envolent pour Washington DC, Etats-Unis, où ils feront leurs études, et grandiront en tant qu’Africains-Américains.

L’un des deux frères décide de rentrer à Dakar, Sénégal, sentant l’appel de sa terre natale. « L’autre en moi » retrace les retrouvailles familiales, lorsque la seconde moitié du duo jumellaire rentre à Dakar.

Entre la question identitaire de la diaspora,  le déracinement culturel, la sensation d’être étranger dans un pays qui l’a vu naître et l’expression de son africanité, Fatou Kande Senghor navigue habilement entre les méandres sentimentaux, d’un homme cherchant à se définir à travers sa confrontation avec son entité africaine.

On May 17th,  the screening of « The other in me » realised by multidisciplinary artist Fatou Kande Senghor, was held at the Goethe Institute in Dakar.
« The other in me » is a docu-fictionwhich deals with the question of identity, through the story of two twin brothers. Both born in Dakar, they flew to Washington DC, USA, where they will make their studies and grow as real African-Americans.

One of the two brothers decided to return to Dakar, Senegal, feeling the call of his homeland. « The other in me » retraces family reunions, when the second half of twins  returned to Dakar.

Between the  identity question in the diaspora, cultural uprooting, the feeling of being a foreigner in a country where he was born and the expression of his Africanness, Fatou Kande Senghor skillfully navigates between  sentimental meanderings of a man, seeking to define himself through his confrontations with his African entity.
